Vision, Mission, and Values

Our Vision

A Society Without Liver Disease.

Our Mission

To save lives by improving liver health and preventing liver disease through community based education, linkages to care, advocacy, and research programs.

Our Values

To provide leadership in community-based educational programs and services in a manner that underscores our values of Integrity, Equity, Commitment, Compassion, Communication and Excellence.

Our Strategy

The Liver Coalition is committed to stopping liver cancer before it starts by maintaining equal focus across more than 100 liver diseases and leading community‑wide strategies that prevent, detect, and treat the conditions that drive liver cancer—including viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, alcohol‑associated liver disease, and rare and pediatric liver diseases.

Guided by our 2026 Community Priorities Survey, our strategy reflects the needs and expectations of the communities we serve.

1. Equal Focus Across All Liver Diseases (Ranked #1)

Survey respondents identified our role as the regional convener for all liver diseases as the Coalition’s highest‑value contribution. We maintain equal focus across all liver diseases to ensure no community or condition is overlooked.

2. Strategic Priorities Aligned With Mission

To maximize impact, we are centering our work on the top three strategic areas identified by patients, caregivers, providers, and partners:

  • Public Awareness & Education (18%)
  • Screening & Early Detection (14%)
  • Advocacy (13%)

These priorities strengthen our commitment to prevention, early detection, and long‑term liver health.

Additional areas identified by respondents include Leadership & Partnership (10%), Knowledge to Practice (10%), Information, Referral & Linkage to Care (10%), Workforce Development (9%), Expert Visibility & Community Navigation (9%), and Delivery of Direct Support Service (7%).

3. Advancing the Top Three Priorities

Public Awareness & Education

  • Leading public education campaigns that increase understanding of liver health, risk factors, and prevention
  • Expanding patient, caregiver, and professional education programs

Screening & Early Detection

  • Increasing access to liver disease screening through community‑based events and partnerships
  • Reducing disparities by prioritizing outreach to high‑risk and underserved communities

Advocacy

  • Advancing policies that expand access to prevention, screening, treatment, and long‑term liver care
  • Serving as a leading voice to policymakers on liver health equity and funding
